We reach out where others turn away

About Us

At Aab Humanitarian Association gGmbH – or simply Aab – we are passionately and wholeheartedly committed to supporting discriminated minorities and bringing hope to people in need.

Aab comes from Persian and means water – a symbol of life, growth, and renewal.

As a non-profit organization, we are committed to supporting people who are unable to find a way out of their hardship on their own. Our goal is to give a voice to those whose voices go unheard – to save lives, offer hope, and strengthen a community built on solidarity.

We believe in the power of diversity. The uniqueness of people and cultures enriches our society and makes it truly special. That is why we advocate for the protection of fundamental human rights and practice tolerance in all its forms – values that we bring to life through our projects.

Yet humanity and justice cannot be taken for granted. In many parts of the world, people are struggling to survive, are being oppressed, or are forced to flee their homes. Their suffering is too often ignored or forgotten. This is where our work begins: we help where others look away. We create safe pathways for those seeking protection, advocate for fair asylum procedures, and fight against structures that strip people of their rights.

By taking over the Project Kabul Airlift, we ensure that the suffering in Afghanistan is not forgotten. We continue to evacuate at-risk individuals – especially women and underage children – from Afghanistan to Pakistan. At the same time, we support those seeking protection in legalizing their stay in Pakistan to prevent them from being forced back to places where they face danger.

We also wholeheartedly support the campaign “Rechts kann uns kreuzweise” – not only because many of us have migration backgrounds, but because hatred and exclusion have no place in our society. The world is watching Germany and its political development. We must not allow history to repeat itself, far-right ideologies to gain strength, and our democracy to be put at risk. Together, we stand for an open, diverse, and tolerant society.

Our work matters because it protects people, saves lives, and fights for a more just world. It reminds us that solidarity is not an option, but a responsibility.

Because a more humane world begins with all of us.
