We reach out where others turn away
At Aab Humanitarian Association gGmbH – or simply Aab – we are passionately committed to supporting discriminated minorities and bringing hope to people in need.
The word Aab originates from Persian and means water – a symbol of life, growth, and renewal.
As a non-profit organization, we dedicate our efforts to helping people who are unable to escape their hardship on their own. Our mission is to give a voice to those who remain unheard, to create safe pathways to protection, to inspire hope, and to strengthen a community built on solidarity.
We believe in the power of diversity. The variety of people and cultures enriches our society and makes it unique. Therefore, we are committed to protecting fundamental human rights and embracing tolerance in all its forms—values that are reflected in every one of our projects.
However, humanity and justice cannot be taken for granted. In many parts of the world, people struggle for survival, face oppression, or are forced to flee their homes. Too often, their suffering goes unnoticed or is forgotten. This is where our work begins: we provide support where others look away. We create safe pathways for those seeking protection, advocate for fair asylum procedures, and challenge structures that deprive people of their rights.
By taking over the Kabul Luftbrücke project, we ensure that the suffering of the people of Afghanistan is not forgotten. We support individuals at risk—particularly women and children—by providing information on safe exit options and assisting those seeking protection with the legalization of their stay in Pakistan. Many have been waiting there for years under humanitarian admission programs for entry to Germany, a process that has been significantly delayed due to political developments. Through legal proceedings supported by our network of legal professionals, we have already helped more than 1,000 people—70% of them women and children—secure safe entry into Germany.
We also wholeheartedly support the campaign “The Far Right Has No Place Among Us” (“Rechts kann uns kreuzweise”). We do so not only because many of us have migration backgrounds ourselves, but because hatred and exclusion must have no place in our society. The world is watching Germany and its political development. We must not allow history to repeat itself, extremist ideologies to gain strength, or our democracy to be put at risk. Together, we stand for an open, diverse, and tolerant society.
Our work matters because it protects people, creates safe pathways to refuge, and fights for a more just world. It reminds us that solidarity is not an option—it is a responsibility.
Because a more humane world begins with all of us.
Get involved and help us bring hope and make the world a little better.
Transparency is a core priority for us as a non-profit limited company. We openly communicate how and for what purpose our funds are used
to strengthen the trust of our supporters and to achieve our goals together.
